About Me

Greetings! For those of you I haven’t met, my name is Matt Moehrle.  I’ve lived in Sartell for 17 years. I’m married with two kids who have attended Sartell-St. Stephen public schools since kindergarten. I've served on the ISD 748 school board since the beginning of 2021.

I first came to the St. Cloud area in 2005 fresh out of law school to work as an associate attorney for the Rajkowski Hansmeier law firm in St. Cloud (now called RGP Law). I’m still employed with the firm on a part-time basis, although I haven’t been listed on their website since I stopped working full time several years ago to primarily be a stay-at-home dad.

My family’s experience in the Sartell-St. Stephen district has been wonderful. We’ve made many friends, and the opportunities for our kids – both for education and other activities – have been excellent. As my kids have grown up in this district, I've had the joy of serving our schools/community as a classroom volunteer at Pine Meadow Elementary, a Sunday school teacher, and a volunteer youth sports coach, among other things. I’m motivated to give back to the community that has provided us with so much, and one way I hope to do that is to continue serving on the school board for at least another four-year term.

On my "why I'm running" page I talk about being reasonable, pragmatic, and hard-working in my approach to school board work. Those ideals were instilled in me from my early years, and continue to serve me well. I graduated from Park High School in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, where I was captain of the swim team. My schooling interests at the time were mainly in math and the sciences, which continued into college. I went to Northwestern University in Illinois and received a B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering, and also spent two seasons on the men’s swim team, followed by another two years officiating intramural sports. From there, I went straight to law school at the University of Minnesota. I originally went to law school thinking I’d want to stay on the engineering route and be a patent attorney, but I eventually decided that litigation work was more appealing. My specialty as a lawyer is arguing cases to the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Minnesota Supreme Court. In these courts, especially, the best way to gain credibility with the judges is not with theatrics, but instead a thorough understanding of the case coupled with a realistic approach to the issues.

In our free time, my family and I love all things lake-related, and enjoy vacations to the beach or to the mountains to ski. I'm also an avid reader and enjoy attending music and theater performances.
